Sister Marielle Bélanger

“Your heavenly Father knows what you need.” Mt 6:32

January 12, 2010, Sister Marielle Bélanger,
in religion, M.-Charles-des-Anges,
went home to God at the age of 94.
She had been professed for 69 years.

Born in Montreal, QC, she was the 8th of 14 children
of Charles Bélanger and Eugénie Brand.

Through the influence of her family, Sister Marielle developed her great desire to give herself to the Lord.  She entered the Postulate at the age of 22.  During her religious life, she taught elementary school children for 13 years in our Montreal schools.  She was affected by recurring health issues all throughout her life

Once her health stabilized, Sister Marielle, always gracious, highly educated, congenial, appreciative of other’s gratitude toward her, and quite discreet about her past, tells us:  “I’ve done many community services such as shopping for our local community and responding to their many needs… assistant to the superior. . .I was always available to do whatever was asked of me.”

Her Sister companions confirmed her readiness to serve and greatly appreciated her.  During the 30 years she lived in Outremont and especially at Goyer Residence, she had an ability to find practical solutions to problems and showed discreet perception in doing small things that needed to be done.

In 1999, Sister Marielle was admitted into the infirmary where her vocation became one of deep prayer as she became less aware of her surroundings.  Her gentle and peaceful death led her to the God of her heart.
