Becoming a Vowed Member

A woman wanting to make a commitment to consecrated life, having experienced a strong call from God, can undertake a process of discernment. Attracted by education in all its forms and by a commitment to justice and marginalized people, she may be called to join the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM).

After a graduated formation period, lasting two to three years in order to experience the charism of the community, this person may be called to make a formal commitment through the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience.

SNJM Charism

In fidelity to the spirit of our Foundress, we are a community of women religious consecrated to God in the Names of Jesus and Mary, who desire to proclaim by our lives the primacy of the love of God. Moved by an active love, we collaborate in the Church’s mission of education in the faith, and with a special concern for the poor and disadvantaged.
