A renowned pedagogue, Sr. Marthe took part in the Gosselin Commission (1970) to reorient SNJM works and membership, and contributed in no small measure to the post-Vatican II transformations.
Her background and recent involvement with the Commission predestined her for the position of Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (1971–1976). It was on this day, August 9, 1971, that Sr. Marthe Lacroix (Alida-Marie) began her work promoting women.
At the end of her mandate in 1976, Sr. Marthe took charge of the Centre Marie-Rose (CMR). She took charge of the cause for the beatification of Marie-Rose Durocher, obtained in 1982. She stepped down as head of the CMR in 1992. She died on August 8, 1999.
