Global Recycling Day

Since March 18, 2018, Global Recycling Day has been celebrated all over the world. This initiative of the International Recycling Office (BIR) aims to raise awareness of the importance of recycling in the sustainable development process. It also aims to raise awareness among manufacturers to design products that are suitable for recycling.

For many years now, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) have been committed to the 5Rs approach, encouraging all members and persons of the SNJM network to take concrete action in this direction. In a context where recycling is also a source of many energy savings, every gesture counts.

Recycling is an industry that dates back to the history of copper smelting, around 9,000 BC, according to BIR data. At the time, smelting and reforming a broken tool was simpler, as was processing the ore needed to create and / or repair it.

To facilitate everyone’s efforts, Recyc-Québec offers advice and reminds us of recent changes in recycling approaches and instructions (in French only).
