Important Notice — Temporary Suspension of Archival Research Services

The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) are currently in the process of relocating their archives to the Archives Center of the Foundation for Religious Heritage and Archives of Greater Montreal (FAR).

During this transition period, the processing of research requests is temporarily suspended. At this time, staff are unable to respond to inquiries from researchers.

However, you may still submit your requests to the SNJM archivist. They will be kept on file, and a follow-up will be provided as soon as services are restored.

We thank you for your understanding and patience.

Please use this form to submit a request.

Historical Background

The SNJM Central Archives Service brings together documents, photographs, illustrations, and numerous works of art collected since the founding of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) in 1843. Among these are the Petites Chroniques (Little Chronicles), written by the Sisters to recount community life in various houses and convents.

The role of the Archives Service is to collect, sort, organize, and preserve the various documents produced through the Congregation’s activities in the many places where it has served. The FAR organization will soon take over to ensure the preservation, dissemination, and handling of research requests.
