World Day of Prayer for Vocations

Listening to the Call Within

Established in 1964 by Pope Paul VI, the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, celebrated each year on the Fourth Sunday of Easter, invites us to reflect on the deeper meaning of our lives and the unique call that resides within each of us.

This day reminds us that vocation touches the human person “at the deepest level of freedom,” as noted by the Catholic Church in France. It is a special opportunity to pray for and support those—especially young people—who are discerning a call to dedicate their lives to God.

An Invitation to Rediscover Inner Life

Under the theme “The Interior Discovery of God’s Gift”, the Holy Father’s message highlights vocation as a deeply personal experience rooted in an encounter with God.

By presenting Jesus as “the Good Shepherd,” the Pope reminds us that following this call brings true joy: “Life is truly beautiful when we follow Him.”

He also emphasizes a positive and liberating vision of vocation: it is “a plan of love and happiness.”

In a fast-paced world filled with distractions, the Pope underscores the importance of nurturing our inner life: “Care for our interior life—this is where vocational ministry must begin again.”

A Call for Today

Returning to what truly matters, embracing silence, and listening to what lives within us are all paths toward discovering our vocation—whether religious, professional, or personal.
