This world day is an opportunity to emphasize the importance of arts education and its contribution to the development of the human being in all its dimensions, as promoted by Mother Marie-Rose, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM).
In addition to school-based curricula, it is important to emphasize the importance of learning about the arts with young children in places such as the Marie-Rose Children’s Home to build their resilience.
This day also serves to encourage the diversity of artistic expression and salute the contribution of the many artists around the world, as did UNESCO’s Director General Audrey Azoulay.
“Our Organization would thus like to pay tribute to the solidarity shown by artists and institutions at a time when art is suffering the full force of the effects of a global health, economic and social crisis.”
