Life isn’t always easy, and can be a real struggle. Many biblical characters have walked in faith, embarking on surprising and confusing adventures. They bear witness to the ups and downs of their journeys and the challenges they faced.
“The journey of human experience in faith is filled with immense joys, but it is also subject to storms, moments of doubt and discouragement.” The theme of this year’s Semaine de la Parole — “Get on Board,” they said!—emphasizes that people are not alone in their journey.
Numerous activities are organized throughout this period in French and English, in person and virtually. All free of charge. The program of activities is available in PDF format. The Saint-Jean-Longueuil diocese is the initiator of this week, which began in 2003. Since then, the dioceses of Chicoutimi, Joliette, Montreal, Bathurst and the Archdiocese of Gatineau have followed suit, in collaboration with the Canadian Bible Society, the Association de catéchèse biblique symbolique, Socabi (Société catholique de la bible), the Société expo-bible du Québec, Récitatifs bibliques and the Ermitage Saint-Antoine du Lac-Bouchette. This week also includes Sunday of the Word of God, instituted by Pope Francis.
