Missionary Craft Exhibition at Maison Jésus-Marie
Handmade Creations Supporting the Community
On October 28 and 29, 2026, Maison Jésus-Marie (MJM) will host its 22nd annual Missionary Craft Exhibition. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover the talent and creativity of the Sisters and their friends while supporting several community organizations.
Organized by Sr. Suzanne Lavallée, with the support of dedicated SNJM companions, this annual event has become a cherished tradition where every handmade creation contributes to a wonderful spirit of solidarity.
Handmade Creations Crafted with Care
Visitors will discover a wide variety of lovingly handcrafted items, including scarves, toques, mittens, knitted socks, and several new creations.
The exhibition will also showcase the work of Sr. Nicole Gaucher, pm, who has mastered the art of needlepoint, as well as greeting cards created by Lise Legault.
Among the regular contributors is Sr. Thérèse Cadorette, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Her energy and creativity continue to impress those around her.
“She knits quickly and makes beautiful scarves and neck warmers,” says Sr. Suzanne Lavallée with admiration.
To add a little extra excitement to the event, five different items will be offered as raffle prizes.
Sharing Talents to Support the Community
Beyond the pleasure of discovering these handmade creations, the exhibition serves an important purpose: turning craftsmanship into meaningful support for people in need.
As in previous years, proceeds from the sales will be donated to several organizations, including the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, L’Entraide Chez Nous, and Unis pour les petits. This Montreal-based organization helps young mothers, often immigrants or refugees, who have no close family nearby.
Donations will also be made to the Red Cross and the Quebec Cancer Society. Unsold items will be distributed to partner organizations, extending this spirit of generosity and mutual support.
An Event Not to Be Missed!
The exhibition will take place in the entrance hall of Maison Jésus-Marie on Wednesday, October 28, and Thursday, October 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Volunteers will be delighted to welcome visitors and introduce them to these handmade creations. The event offers an opportunity to find an original gift, support talented artisans, and contribute to a cause that has brought the SNJM and their friends together for more than two decades: mutual support and solidarity.
