High Level Political Forum (HLPF) – Sustainable Development

The NGO Committee for Social Development of UNANIMA International will participate in the High Level Political Forum, the main UN platform for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 goals.

The event will be held July 6-17 with the theme, “A Sustainable and Resilient Recovery from COVID-19 that Promotes the Economic, Social, and Environmental Dimensions of Sustainable Development: building an inclusive and effective pathway to achieving the 2030 Agenda in the context of the Decade of Action and Delivery for Sustainable Development. ”

The Forum should focus on key issues to achieve the goal of more just and sustainable cities and human settlements. The following objectives will therefore be particularly examined:

  • Eradication of poverty (ODD1)
  • Zero hunger (ODD 2)
  • Health and well-being (ODD 3)
  • Decent Work and Economic Growth (ODD 8)
  • Reducing Inequality (ODD 10)
  • Climate Action (ODD13)
  • Peace, Justice and Effective Institutions (ODD 16)
  • Partnerships (ODD17)

Some 44 countries will present their progress during this event under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. UNANIMA International will be involved in several side events in collaboration with its partners CGRJ, the NGO REDES (European Justice Group of Religious), the NGO Committee for Social Development (NGO CSocD) and others.
