Family Week
From May 13 to 19, 2024, Quebec Family Week takes place under the theme “Families the Centre of our universe.” This is a reminder of the important role families play in our lives. It’s the first place of education that helps little ones “build a caring society,” the first place of mutual aid to ensure a certain “social and economic stability” and the first place of solidarity to help “reduce poverty and exclusion, especially of vulnerable people.”
The aim of the week is to celebrate the major role of the family, “our nation’s greatest asset”. We therefore hope to give families a voice, and to entice the authorities to listen to their concerns and give them greater support.
At the same time, the Standing Committee of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is proposing a pastoral toolkit to animate the National Family and Life Week (NFLW). This year’s theme is “Love hopes all things”, inspired by the words of St. Paul, “[Love] endures all things, trusts all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:7).
The toolkit includes prayer intentions, suggested activities for families and parishes, catechesis and pastoral suggestions for Mass.
