On October 12, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) at Maison Jésus-Marie (MJM) gathered for a simple yet heartfelt celebration to recognize Sr. Jacqueline Longtin’s four years of service from 2022 to 2026, as the community leader at MJM’s Pavillon Saint-André. The warm gathering was filled with spontaneous tributes that spoke volumes about the affection and gratitude of her fellow Sisters.

A Celebration Filled with Gratitude

The festivities began in the late afternoon in the community room with a prayer service prepared by Sisters Suzanne Brault and Suzanne Lavallée.

In an atmosphere that was both relaxed and reflective, this moment of thanksgiving offered the opportunity to recognize Sr. Jacqueline’s dedication and the considerable time and energy she devoted to supporting her fellow Sisters in their daily lives.

The gathering continued with a wine and cheese reception held in the cafeteria. After Sr. Suzanne Brault read a tribute recalling some of the highlights of Jacqueline’s years of service, the Sisters were invited to share what they had particularly appreciated about her.

A Listening Ear, Availability, and Respect for Everyone

Their heartfelt testimonials highlighted Sister Jacqueline’s remarkable availability, her willingness to listen, and her respect for each Sister’s personal experiences. Some also spoke of the spirit of freedom Jacqueline had fostered within the community. Others fondly recalled the thoughtful gestures that helped encourage open communication.

“You could really feel that this was a heartfelt ‘Thank you.’ It was a very moving moment,” shared Sr. Jacqueline Aubry, who had worked alongside Sr. Jacqueline Longtin on the leadership team during the past four years.

A Sweet Ending to a Heartwarming Celebration

To conclude the gathering, everyone enjoyed a caramel cake specially prepared by Sr. Hélène Harvey. Sr. Jacqueline Longtin then took a moment to express her gratitude to everyone.

Filled with shared memories, sincere words, and the simple joy of being together, the celebration honoured the spirit of community life and offered a meaningful way to thank Sr. Jacqueline for four years of dedicated presence and support.
