World Mission Week takes place this year from October 15 to 22. This last day coincides with the date set for “World Mission Sunday”, celebrated by all the world’s churches. The theme of the day, presented by Pope Francis, is “Hearts on fire… on the move” (Lk 24:13-35).
Several parishes are organizing a variety of activities during this week to highlight the work done by missionaries in various parts of the world to support vulnerable communities. These activities range from an evening of worship and prayer to a celebration and open animation activities with questions such as “What is God’s will? Where can I listen? How can we be witnesses to God in our lives?”
Mission Sunday is also an invitation to remember our baptismal call to “bring the Gospel to all” and to become a witness to Jesus in the world.
