National Nursing Week

“Changing Lives. Shaping Tomorrow” is the theme of this year’s National Nursing Week. It is also known in the industry as Caregivers Week.

This theme is intended to highlight the positive impact of nurses on individuals, families and the future of healthcare.

Just think of the role that all healthcare staff play in patients’ lives and well-being, through their compassion, expertise and practices. This role extends to advocating for better patient care.

Through their participation in healthcare innovation initiatives, their concern for improving patient care practices, their ongoing development of their skills and their desire to share and support new generations, all members of the nursing workforce are also helping to shape the future of nursing.

This national week is held annually during the week of Florence Nightingale’s birthday, on May 12, 1820. This British nurse was a pioneer in modern nursing and the use of statistical data in healthcare. This week also marks Indigenous Nurses Day on May 6.

Take advantage of this week to show your appreciation to all the nursing staff.
