International Day of Action for Women’s Health

This international day is an opportunity to raise the issues of women’s health, particularly the problem of access to care. This aspect, which is still relevant in the current context, makes us aware of the many economic, social, cultural and political obstacles that limit women’s right to effective professional health care.

Several events are held around the world to discuss various themes related to these issues, including the health of women in precarious situations. This day originated in Costa Rica in 1987. Its objective was to fight against maternal mortality and morbidity. In the following years, the event expanded to include all issues related to access to health care for women. Awareness-raising activities around the world take place during this international day.
