Advent 2022

Advent is a time of preparation marked by the symbolism of expectation, the expectation of the coming of Christ, celebrated at Christmas. Advent starts 4 Sundays before Christmas. This year, Advent begins on November 27 and kicks off the liturgical year A. Its theme is “Living together in expectation of the Savior”.

For this period full of meaning, many tools are available to Christians to live a time of Advent that invites the believer to reconnect with history and to simplify his life by remembering the arrival of the newborn in the crib.

For example, the Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil offers materials including posters, visuals and video presentations which can be found here (in French only). The Diocese of Montreal also offers videos and an online Advent retreat.

For its part, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) intends to offer a weekly video reflection in a process entitled “Journeying Together in Advent”.
