Advent 2021

Advent is a time of preparation before Christmas marked by the symbolism of waiting, waiting for the coming of Christ, celebrated at Christmas.  Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas. This year, Advent begins on November 29th. Its theme is “Hoping for his presence”.

For this meaningful period, many tools are made available to Christians to live a resourcing Advent.

Thus, Unanima International shared a reflection guide that has the particularity of mixing the biblical texts of the Advent liturgy with the document of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It was realized by the Proclade Fundacion of the Claretian Province of Santiago in Spain in collaboration with the Solidarity and Mission Team (SoMi) of Santiago. The guide offers a daily reflection. It is available in English, Spanish and French in PDF format and in phone and tablet formats: English—mobile, Spanish—mobile and French—mobile.

In addition, the Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil offers prayers, visuals and video presentations that you will find here (in French only).

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has chosen this time to prepare reflections for each Sunday of Advent related to the process of healing and reconciliation with Aboriginal peoples. Each of the essential stages of reconciliation will be addressed; examination, confession, repentance, reparation and reconciliation. This reflection series is available in English and French in video and written form.
